EKL as a matter of principle and policy lays great emphasis on Health, Safety, Environment and Security.

HSE Documents
EKL has a documented Health Safety and Environment (HSE) policy and a construction site HSE manual which provides guidelines for all aspects for construction sites, material handling and storage, waste handling and disposal, working in hazardous areas and locations.

For projects requiring job specific HSE plans, the HSE Department is responsible to carry out a HAZOP study and to get it approved from the customer.

Monitoring and Implementation
The overall HSE responsibility rests with the Managing Director and delegated through the HSE Manager down to the ordinary worker level. It is the duty of each supervisor to enforce the HSE policy by conducting safety talks, demonstrations and conducting spot checks for any violations. An incentive and reward program encourages the personnel to enhance their performance in this key area.

Previous Record
EKL has an excellent record in the field of Health, Safety and Environment has earned a number of awards and citations from various customers. EKL is fully committed to discharge its responsibilities towards HSE to its customers in particular and to community at large in general.

Project Commitment
EKL's primary and continuing policy is to conduct its activities in a manner that it protects the Health, Safety and Environment of all affected by its activities and to make every effort to limit the adverse effect on the physical Environment in which its activities are being carried out.

EKL therefore:
  • Provides and maintains a safe, healthy working environment in compliance with all local regulations and legislations, together with all appropriate international standards and regulations.
  • Ensures that all items of plant, equipment and all substances used in its diverse operations, are properly used, maintained or handled in a manner so as not to constitute a risk to persons or to the environment.
  • Ensures that all employees are informed of the operational and HSE standards, practices, objectives and procedures. Train them in the attitudes, skills and knowledge in order to achieve these requirements.

  • Ensures that all employees are made aware of their own responsibilities towards themselves and others. To encourage them for adopting safe, healthy working practices at all times during the course of their employment.
  • Establishes feedback procedures, systems and encourages all personnel to participate in matters of Health, Safety and Environment. Carries out regular audits, inspections and surveys of all sites and activities to ensure compliance with and adherence to these standards and conditions.
  • Makes assessment of all prospective activities, new works, development, acquisitions or modifications to ensure their compliance with these standards and requirements.
